Privacy policy
Last updated:
Flight Okay is a free app made by Deniz Şen to help people with fear of flying. This policy explains what data the Flight Okay mobile app and the website flightokay.com handle. In short: we do not collect your personal data.
The short version
- There are no accounts and no sign-up.
- There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
- Your settings and progress are stored only on your device.
- Motion sensor readings are processed on your device and never leave it.
- Some features request public online services, which are listed below.
Data stored on your device
The app saves a few things locally so it works the way you left it: your language, the topics you marked as read, the plane you picked, game progress, whether turbulence detection is on, and cached information about cities, places and weather so it opens faster and works offline.
This data never leaves your device. You can clear the cache in the app settings, and deleting the app removes everything.
Motion sensor
While the app is open, it uses your phone’s accelerometer to notice turbulence and gently explain what is happening. The readings are processed in real time on your device. They are not stored and not sent anywhere.
Public services the app uses
Some features send requests directly from your device to public services. Like any website you visit, these services receive your IP address and the request itself (for example, a flight number or a city). Their own privacy policies apply, and we do not control them.
- adsb.lol: the flight number you enter, to find the route and the position of the plane.
- NOAA Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov): turbulence forecasts. No personal data is sent.
- OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap (including Nominatim): map tiles and places to stay at your destination.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata: information and photos about your destination.
- Open-Meteo: the current weather at your destination.
What we never do
- We do not sell or share your data, because we do not collect it.
- We do not show ads or build profiles.
- The app does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
When you contact us
If you write to us on Telegram or by email, we see what you send us, such as your name, username and message. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the app. Telegram’s own privacy policy applies to messages sent through Telegram.
This website
flightokay.com does not use cookies or analytics. It remembers the language you picked in your browser’s local storage. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and reliability.
If you check a flight on the website, your browser loads the route from adsb.lol and the map from OpenFreeMap directly, and our server asks adsb.lol and the NOAA Aviation Weather Center for the plane’s position and turbulence forecasts on your behalf. We do not store the flight numbers you enter.
Children
Flight Okay is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
